The more things change, the more they stay the same…

2011. I guess things didn’t work out so well for us in 2010; best laid plans and all. So what will this year bring? Increased determination is one thing. Dan and myself are busying ourselves with writing and we’re hauling some of our past projects out of the bin to try and get pushing.

Suffice to say, we’re not going to be quite as public this year; we’ll announce things when they’re concrete, only show you stuff that’s finished and, hopefully, we’ll be able to entertain you all at some point. For any of you reading this blog, please stick with us. We want to make this work and we hope you’ll all be along for the journey!

Two new projects!

Yes, we’re finally moving ahead on some new projects. Following the breakdown of Cleaner we’ve thought long and hard about what projects are best suited for us at this time and we’ve pulled together two short scripts from “in gestation” ideas. So, we now present:

The Conversation (working title)

Written and Directed by Dan Hawbrook and Andrew Beeken, Produced by Andrew Beeken.

Something Wonderful

Written, directed and produced by Andrew Beeken

We’re aiming to have these in the bag by June so watch this space for more information

Night of the Cleaner – Production Cancelled

Hello readers. Unfortunately I’d like to drop a quick post today to inform you that our production of Night of the Cleaner has now been cancelled. We had a great time shooting for two months but, upon reviewing a cut of our initial footage we have decided that it is simply not to be at present. While we are generally happy with our “tester”, as film-makers we simply do not have the skills at present to fully realise what we’ve written in Cleaner and do it justice; but we’ve learned so much and built up so many contacts over the shooting period that it is not time wasted. We are still planning on making Cleaner and will be revisiting the project in 2011.

Rest assured, Short Cut Films is carrying on and from the ashes of Cleaner will rise a series of shorts! We have a number of ideas that we’re currently working on so keep your eyes peeled to this space for further information.

I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the people who contributed to the initial cut of Cleaner – Paul Russon, Sam Kieran, Pip Wilson, Mike Pollard and Ben Ward, and our actors Graham Dawson, Oliver Vella and Katie Atkin. Hopefully these are some names you will be seeing more of on Short Cut Films in the future.

First night of shooting!

The set, all dressed for the first night of shooting

It’s here! Finally! The cast and crew of Night of the Cleaner will be congregating at our location tonight to film our first two scenes. Producer Dan has been hard at work all afternoon scrubbing, cleaning and dressing the set – you can see some of his pics in our Picasa gallery.

Joining us tonight will be new crew member Ben Ward who is our sound guy.

Hopefully at the end of this week we’ll have our initial batch of footage shot as well as (drumroll) a trailer that we will publish!

We’re going to be making this film as awesome as possible so, as always, subscribe to the RSS and keep up to date with production!

Night of the Cleaner – production update

Hi folks! We’re making some good headway with “Night of the Cleaner” and appear to have official progressed into “in production” status. We’ve got a crew of talented people together and are currently looking for actors to start shooting some test footage over the next few weeks. Filming begins in earnest this coming monday when we will be on location filming some F/X plates so hopefully I will have another update sometime next week.

We’re going to try and reveal as much as possible about our film-making process without spoiling the film itself on this blog; we’ve also set up a number of other online resources which we’ll be tapping into over the next few weeks, starting with a Picasa gallery in which we’re going to be publishing as many production pics as possible. The first few are up there now so go check them out!

As well as myself, Dan and Paul I’d also like to welcome to the crew Samantha Kieran who will be working on make-up and Pip Wilson who’s helping us light this thing. In addition we have Mike Pollard, creator of our snazzy corporate logo, working behind the scenes to create some media for Cleaner – more on that soon too!

All in all we’re very excited at the speed we’re moving with this! Keep ‘em peeled on this website for more information and don’t forget to sign up to the RSS to get updates as soon as they’re published!
